I collaborated with Subulana in the holy month of Ramadan 1440 to create this series of illustrations to be posted on Instagram. Subulana wrote their interpretation of an aya (Quran verse) literally and I illustrated the aya visually.
Quran [kuh·raan] is the Islamic sacred book. Growing up, the methodologies used to teach us the words of Allah —God— were timid and created distance that contributed to developing a shallow relationship with our holy book. Nevertheless, we are taught to respect and value these verses above all else.
